Resource Type Categories

Prior to using Destiny Help Desk, you need to set up resource type categories for each resource template to either IT/Technology or Other. These categories ensure Help Desk knows which resources to include and exclude.

All templates below Resources will inherit the selected option from Resources. Help Desk is for technology resources. So, it is best to select Other for Resources. Then, change the Resource Type Category for your technology-related resource templates (such as 1:1 devices, laptops, routers) to IT/Technology.

To update a resource category for a template:

  1. Select Catalog > Add Resource > Edit Templates sub-tab.
  2. Click Add (Add Template icon.), Edit (Edit icon.), or Duplicate (Duplicate icon.).
  3. In the Resource Type Category section, click Edit icon..
  4. Do one of the following:
    • To have the resource type category inherit the same setting as the Resources template, ensure the checkbox is selected.
    • To select a different resource type category than the Resources template, ensure the checkbox is not selected.
  5. From the drop-down, select the appropriate category.
  6. Click OK.
  7. On the Add Template or Edit Template page, click Save.
